To the Editor,
I quit reading today’s column by David Brooks (The Sidney Awards 12/23/10) when I came to the phrase “moral breakdown” without quotes. I am fine with that being discussed in church. In the Times I expect something H.L. Mencken would at least pass without comment. He would have wadded up today’s David Brooks column and thrown it over his shoulder in disgust before heading to the nearest bar for a hot Tom and Jerry or other Christmas drink where he could consider the many worthwhile topics a newspaper could consider before dredging “moral breakdown” up from the muck.
Sincerely
Dennis
Christmas Eve 2010
