The original Lighthouse Cinema closed in 1996. In 2003 Alain LeToureau of Four Wall Cinema in Portland, Oregon, asked Dennis Nyback for permission to name anew theater in Portland after the legenday Lighthouse Cinema in New York. Permission was granted.
