Dennis Nyback is an independent film archivist and historian. He has been commissioned to create programs on: Suburbia (Jacob Burns Center), Slapstick (Grand Illusion Cinema), R Crumb’s Musical Interests (Yerba Buena Center for the Arts) Jazz Music (Husets Biograf), Baseball (Houston Museum of Fine Art) and for himself and others, over three hundred other film programs. He creates them from 16mm and 35mm films from his archive of thousands of early jazz films, soundies, scopitones, dance films, animation, baseball films, foreign films, documentaries, educational films, industrial films, commercials, newsreels, silent films, vintage television shows, home movies, propaganda films, science fiction films, and rare, forgotten, forbidden, and amazing short films. He has been a guest at film festivals from San Francisco, California to Puchon, South Korea and many others in between. He has made over one thousand lecture and screening appearances around the world
